Welcome!

My name is Hemze and this is my website.
I love the internet, and want to create HTML again like I used to when I was a kid.

This website is completely handcoded by me, because that is more fun
than using some random template to copy and paste :)

Brief History

My first computer was a Dell Optiplex GX100 around 2002. Having my own computer in my own bedroom as a kid greatly shaped the course of my life. I bought a GX115 version off of eBay and frequently mess around with the hardware and software of the machine. I loaded Windows 2000 onto it because that OS was the most memorable of my childhood. I still vividly remember the bootup screen and sound to this day.

Early on, I mostly played CD-ROM and flash games. I was a kid, so they were all kids games that my dad burned for me on CDs with a sharpie.

I first became very active on YouTube in 2007, creating Lego Stop Motion videos. I would use an Olympus Stylus 600 camera to take pictures, and then load it into Windows XP's movie maker. At that point, my dad gave me his old Sony Vaio computer tower, a model PCV-RZ44G loaded with Windows XP. I still can't believe I had such a beefy computer at a young age. A very niche Windows feature led me down a path to gaining more of an interest in computers: being able to change desktop icons.

Eventually around 2011, I wanted to learn how to create popup windows and started watching YouTube tutorials on VBScript. I made a lot of random stuff, mostly 'choose your own adventure style' things. Feeling nostalgic at a surprisingly young age, I decided I wanted to access old operating systems that I grew up with through virtual machines. I still have all of those files today, and still boot up the VMs one in awhile. The most memorable operating systems to me were Windows 2000, Chicago, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, and Windows XP.

I was never much of a gamer growing up compared to my brother, but I did start playing Minecraft Pocket Edition in late 2011. I started playing Java in April of 2012, 1.2.5 was the best!

I became interested in Photoshop in 2013, so my dad obtained CS2 for me. I mostly played around with blending options for text layers. In high school, I took multiple computer classes: Computer Science, Web Design, Computer Gaming, 3D Modeling, Photography, Computer Art, etc. This is also the time I really got into PC gaming, before mostly being on the 360. I went to college to become a technology teacher, and now teach in the public school system.

Nowadays, my main hobbies are still closely centered around technology, like making this website. I have recently picked up 3D Printing as a hobby (PRUSA FTW), and mostly like the test the limits of it. I know a lot of people are against AI, but I have been really excited watching the development of it recently. To me, regulation will be more important than ever when it comes to safe usage.

Outside of technology, my main hobby is genealogy. I have been doing research on my own family tree since 2012 and still work on it to this day.
